The Frog Prince

Grimm fairy tale

The princess must keep her promise to the repulsive frog; in the Grimm original she finally hurls it against the wall, and even that honest fury breaks the spell. The Animus in its undeveloped form is repulsive: real engagement precedes transformation.

You don't get the prince by finding a prince. You get the prince by accepting the frog.

The pattern underneath: The Anima / Animus. The qualities you've assigned to 'the other' rather than owning as part of yourself.
